In 1983, legendary graffiti artist “Chase”, not knowing any other artist but knowing that belonging to a crew was a better option, set out on a mission to create his own crew.
He would call it, Under Cover Artist (UCA), the UC Crew
Eventually he would meet Minus UCA, ( who was writing Licorice at the time ) and would become the first person to join the UCA family.
Minus would introduce Chase to the Radiotron, (which at the time, was where you wanted to be if you were into Hip Hop) and would meet the next two members to join the UCA family, Easie (RIP) and Earn.
Teler, Reos, Image (RIP), Rage and Relik would shortly follow into the UCA family.
In '87, the Atlanta chapter of UCA was started. It was virgin territory at the time and bombing the streets was no problem. Eventually Leon would become the 1st put down of UCA Southern Division, followed by Jaz, SBone, Sae, Daks, Base and Save. All which are still active in the Atlanta and worldwide graffiti movement.
Meanwhile in mid 80’s Los Angeles, Earn, Insane and new member Besk would take UCA to new heights, with their consistent, high skill level pieces. They would be followed in the 90’s into the family by Pale (RIP), Panic, Lench, and Size.
In the mid 90’s UCA was also making moves in the Bay Area ( North Cali), adding members Gigs, Pase, Wim and let’s not forget King Syra UCA (RIP)
UCA is a family that has withstood the test of time and continues to thrive. With new members Damet, Czer, Tony, Erah, Resn, Slok, Ezra, Ribs, Cin76, Class, Fearo and Latzo, along with new chapters in Texas led by Malo and Durok and Miami led by Sinse
Today UCA is growing and only getting stronger.
